# Sources and methodology

- Facts come from maker pages (ray-ban.com, oakley.com and Oakley's oakleysi.com, mauijim.com, US sites) and, rarely, retailer pages. Current source counts: manufacturer_product_page 94, manufacturer_guide 3, retailer_page 1, authorized_retailer_page 1.
- Extraction: each page was read through an automated web fetch that converts the page to text; every recorded value had to be returned identically by two independent extractions with different prompts (`verification.method = dual_extraction_agreement`). Values the two extractions disagreed on were dropped. No human visual check of every page has been done yet, and nothing is measured by this site.
- Binding: values are recorded only for the exact variant (style code + size + lens). Some Oakley sizes come from the style's single-size measurement page; this is noted per variant.
- Republished content: `original_source_id` links a copy to its origin. Copies of one brand's facts on several sites are not independent confirmations; conflicts are shown, not voted away.
- Publication: a variant is published when its identity is confirmed by a maker source, it has a successful check time and at least one publishable field. Individual fields can be withheld (value not disclosed) while the rest is published. Publication status is separate from redistribution rights: we cite facts with links and do not copy maker images or marketing copy (`usage_basis: fact_citation_only`).
