# About this site

sunglassesguides is an independent reference for sunglasses specifications. It records, for each exact variant of a model, the values the maker publishes: lens width, bridge width, temple length, polarization, fit labels, lens and frame details. Every value carries its source link and the time it was last checked.

## What it is

- Read-only reference data for the US market, in millimeters and en-US.
- Built first for AI assistants and agents (an API and an MCP endpoint), with the same data on pages people can read.
- Independent: the site has no brand partnerships, does not sell anything and shows no advertising.

## What it is not

- No prices, stock or offers. No price source is connected, so nothing here says what a frame costs or where to buy it.
- No purchases, carts or checkout. Every link to a maker page is a citation, not a shop link.
- No fit guarantees, face measurement, virtual try-on or prescriptions.
- Not a market-wide catalog. "No match" means no match among the brands and models published here.

## Where the values come from

- Values are "reported by the maker": they come from the brand's own product pages for that exact variant. This site does not measure frames.
- Each maker page was read by an automated fetch, and a value was recorded only when two independent extractions with different prompts returned it identically. Values the two extractions disagreed on were dropped.
- A variant is published when its identity is confirmed by a maker source, it has a successful check time and at least one publishable field. Individual fields can be held back for review while the rest is published.
- Unknown stays unknown. Nothing is copied from another size, color or model, and nothing is invented: no products, prices, GTINs, images or fit labels.
- When two sources disagree, both claims are shown and no value is used.
